Before Lexi Bremer walked into �鶹��Ƶ, she already knew what it meant to work hard. As a project manager for �鶹��Ƶ's employer communications team and field marketing team, she oversees projects from beginning to end, coordinating with teams across the company. Before she was managing timelines, she was learning many of those same skills on the farm.

From the age of 8 until 16, Bremer spent her mornings and evenings caring for livestock, preparing them for shows and learning lessons that would stick with her long after she left the show ring.  

“There are animals relying on you every single day,” said Bremer. “You don’t have a choice but to show up. They have to be fed and taken care of.”

Bremer attended the University of Missouri, where she earned a degree in agricultural communications. Looking for an internship that was required for graduation, �鶹��Ƶ stood out to her.

�鶹��Ƶ’s internship program has grown significantly since launching in 2021 with 18 interns. The program has expanded, with more than 70 interns in 2026. Managers and mentors take time to get to know interns personally, to understand where their skills lie and what passions they want to pursue. �鶹��Ƶ is committed to growing interns into valuable workers.

“The �鶹��Ƶ Internship Program is mutually beneficial, providing interns with hands-on, real-world work experience while giving the business fresh ideas, added productivity and an early pipeline for future talent,” Internship Program Manager Amy Dittmer said. “Managers assign projects to interns based on both business needs and the interns' individual interests, ensuring the work is meaningful on both sides. Interns have the opportunity to participate in professional development sessions in addition to their projects as well as present their accomplishments and growth at the end of the program.”

Bremer never thought that her internship would turn into a full-time career. 

“I had zero corporate experience,” she said. “I was nervous walking into such a big company.”

Luckily, she wasn’t alone. She started her internship alongside multiple other students, and another intern on her team helped calm those nerves. Before she knew it, Bremer realized the internship was much more hands-on than she had expected.

“I learned pretty quickly that �鶹��Ƶ gives interns the opportunity to learn, grow and build their skills by taking on important tasks,” Bremer said. 

One of her first projects involved helping coordinate �鶹��Ƶ’s submissions for national workplace and business awards. Those efforts helped contribute to a tradition of recognition that is still in place today. 

Today, Bremer has taken on a lot more responsibility within the company. In addition to managing communication projects from start to finish, she also oversees the company’s “Swag Store” that provides corporate merchandise for employees. 

“Not only is Lexi the super star of the swag store for the whole company, but she is a fantastic colleague to partner with on the budget and financial data side,” Senior Financial Planning Analyst Gina Campagna said. “I enjoy when people think they aren’t data nerds…only to find out that they actually love learning new formulas, tricks, and they have a data-loving heart after all.  Lexi is never shy about taking on new challenges and learning new skills, and she always does it with a beautiful spirit and attitude.  She has earned my utmost confidence that if Lexi is assigned a job, I know it’s going to be done on time and triple-checked for accuracy.” 

Bremer says there wasn't one defining moment that convinced her to stay after her internship. Over time, she realized she had found a place where she could continue to build her skills with people who encourage her every day. 

“My team has been incredible, and the culture here has made all the difference,” she said. “The internship program was amazing then, and it’s only gotten bigger and better.”

Outside of work, Bremer still spends time in the livestock industry. On the weekends, she and her fiancé attend cattle shows, where she regularly mentors younger exhibitors. 

For students hoping to follow a similar path from intern to full-time employee, Bremer's advice is simple:

“Sometimes you just have to dive in,” she said. “Go to the intern events, meet people and don’t be afraid to jump right in. You never know where it could lead.”

Bremers' story from intern to full-time employee is a reminder that an internship can be more than a temporary place on the way to graduation. For her, it became an opportunity to learn new skills, build lasting relationships and find a career.
